Blitzkarren, 1924 |
The "Blitzkarren" ("lightning cart") - an asthmatic 2 hp vehicleThis is the first self-constructed
vehicle of Borgward from the year 1924, a little, easily to be steered
and cheap transporter on three wheels. Because of the low motor efficiency
it was laughed at and its "asthmatically 2 h.p." were called "the visiting-card
of a poor fool". But Borgward offered with the "Blitzkarren" the right
car at the right time and months later the 100th "Blitzkarren" left
the factory. Front loader and larger transporter vehicles followed. |

Hansa Konsul Cabriolet, 1931 |
The Hansa Konsul - the new middle class carWhen in 1929 Borgward
became managing director of Hansa Lloyd AG he pushed the construction
of a new middle-class car as the cars with huge eight cylinder engines
had nearly no market. In 1930 the Hansa Matador was published and a
year later the Hansa Konsul. Optionally this car could be bought with
a six-cylinder continental engine or a four cylinder from Hansa Lloyd.
It was the first passenger car that was constructed and built under
the leadership of Borgward and on account of the modest success the
production of the Hansa Konsul was already stopped in 1932. |

Borgward 2300 Cabriolet, 1939 |
The Hansa Borgward 2000 - Hansa is called now BorgwardIn February 1937 the
Hansa 2000 was presented to the public and nearly one year later started
the production in series. The name Hansa was replaced in 1939 by the
company sign Borgward. In the following October the replacement of the
Borgward 2000 by the stronger Borgward 2300 with a 2.3 liter engine
was carried out which was built until 1942. |

The Borgward Hansa 1500 - a new start after the warDer auf dem Genfer
Autosalon 1949 vorgestellte Borgward Hansa 1500 war die erste deutsche
Personenwagen Neukonstruktion nach dem Krieg. Er wurde als zwei- und
viertürige Limuousine, als Kombi und als Sport-Cabriolet angeboten.
Auf Wunsch wurde er auch mit einem automatischen Strömungsgetriebe
(Hansa-Matic) geliefert. |

The Borgward Isabella - Borgward's biggest successThe successor of the
Hansa 1500/1800, the former Hansa 1500 called Isabella, was produced
from 1954 on. During the following 7 years some alterations were made
and several sister models produced. From 1955 on the Isabella TS with
a stronger engine and from 1957 on a sportive coupé were produced. A
station wagon and a pick-up for the export followed. Until the stop
in 1961 202.839 Isabella cars have been produced. |

Borgward P 100, 1960 |
The Borgward with 2.3 liter engine (P100) - the last Borgward carThis model was presented
at the Automobile Saloon in Frankfort 1959. Sensational was the P 100
with a pneumatic damping instead of the usual screw elasticity exhibited
at the Saloon in Bruxelles. 1960. The P 100 was produced in series in
the same year, however, his success was stopped by the bankruptcy of
the Borgward company in the summer of 1961. |
